Best Dressed at the Golden Globes

January 23, 2006 at 5:18 pm by Sarah Jean Snarker

Keira Knightly Golden Globes 2006

Keira Knightley’s Valentino was so original, unique, and simple and ornate at the same time. She was the queen of the night, fashion-wise.

Emmy Rossum Golden Globes 2006

Emmy Rossum is just beautiful, and I love the layers of different-sized tulle ruffles on her Dior gown.

Jessica Alba Golden Globes 2006

Jessica Alba in a nicely shaped, flattering Versace gown.

Felicity Huffman Golden Globes 2006

Felicity Huffman gets enough love from her husband, so I’ve nothing more to say than “she is in Marchesa,” to add to that fluffy train.

Kyra Sedgwick Golden Globes 2006

Kyra Sedgwick: I love the lacey ruffles and different use of trendy and flattering belts on her gown by Bottega Veneta.

Minus points for showing leg. Bonus points for showing shoe.

Eva Longoria Golden Globes 2006

Eva Longoria … in the butt pucker dress by Bob Mackie?

Teri Hatcher Golden Globes 2006

Teri Hatcher: Glitz n’ Diva in Versace. Minus points for skank and attention desperation.

Zhang Ziyi Golden Globes 2006

Zhang Ziyi gets points for wearing a bright color in this Giorgio Armani.

Best Jewels at the Golden Globes

January 23, 2006 at 4:37 pm by Sarah Jean Snarker

Sarah Jessica Parker Golden Globes 2006

Everything about Sarah Jessica Parker at the Golden Globes was subdued, aside from the hair, which I love, and that necklace, which is of course her shining focal point. And it even explains the hair—which needed to be swept up off of the face. She did a great job of dressing.

The stones on that hunka Fred Leighton sparkle so, that I can’t get my eyes off of them. Until I catch a glimpse of Sarah Jessica’s face, done up with the perfect, fresh makeup. Her face is shining, too! Both gorgeous details made Sarah radiant!

Keira Knightly Golden Globes 2006

Keira Knightley’s large Cartier earrings topped off her goddess-worthy dress and bare skin, very well. Not too large for a bare chest, and minimal make-up and hair-styling; they did a good job of bringing attention to lovely Keira’s remarkable face. And attention needs to be there, for when she speaks, cherubic angels sweep light notes across their harps, in pure inspiration of her divine singularity and lyrical voice. (I a bit of a crush on her).

Lady Madonna

January 23, 2006 at 1:46 pm by HeidiGoLightly

discomadonna

Madonna seems to be everywhere lately. It’s true she’s always had a knack for staying in the public eye, but there are so many news items floating around about her it’s dizzying. These are the things I’ve read in the past week alone…

There are rumors that her longstanding feud with Mariah Carey continues. Jon Bon Jovi has apologized to her. She will not allow Lourdes to audition for a part in the next Harry Potter film. She has been voted the best celebrity mother in Britain. Friends are worried she’s exercising too much and jeopardizing her health.

I have to say, as someone who grew up watching Madonna from the very start of her career, I don’t really recognize the Material Girl of my youth anymore. These are not the headlines I would have ever expected to see. Diva smack-downs and too much exercise? Maybe. But, mother of the year awards? Never. It used to be fairly simple. All of the news items about Madonna revolved around sex or bad films. But now, she’s a married mother who lives in the English countryside and strives for spirituality. So, who is she now?

ManorMadonna

Is she really just a simple lady of the manor who feeds her birds and dresses like Grace Kelly? Or, is she her latest incarnation as pictured at the top of the post? The techno trashy, leotard clad, disco diva with the Farrah Fawcett hair. I’m hoping for the latter. But, with Madonna, you never know.

From Runway to Red Carpet

January 22, 2006 at 3:16 am by Miss Cinnamon

Mischa Barton dazzles in Dolce & Gabbana outshining the runway model tenfold.

Emily Rossum looks amazing (neck down) in this Celine dress. Unfortunately, she didn’t wear the hat. Hiding her 40 year old face would have been an improvement. Can you believe this girl hasn’t even hit 20? I dread to think what she’ll look like 10 years from now.

The Gucci S/S 06 dress as it was meant to be worn…. Drew absolutely butchered it with her chubby stomach and large breasts. Clearly this dress was meant for the flat and the skinny… I know you’ve lost weight Drew darling, but don’t delude yourself. You’re no Nicole Ritchie.

Stripes is all over Ralph Lauren this season. Not a huge fan of the outfit but Penelope manages to pull it off, looking less horsier than usual, and just all round fab.

Lindsay Lohan and her Jimmy Choo ‘Ramona’

January 21, 2006 at 4:28 am by Miss Cinnamon

Lindsay Lohan and her Jimmy Choo RamonaI’ve been sourcing a product spread for Tamara Mellon (founder of Jimmy Choo, socialite daughter of Vidal Sassoon co-founder, and ex-member of the UK “it” girls scene which includes Tara P-T and Tamsin Outhwaite), and spotted this gorgeous Ramona bag on her list. Brand new for S/S 06 Theola handbag line, this bag is sure to be a must-have this spring. I’ve never been fond of Jimmy Choo handbags but the ‘Ramona’ bag has the potential to be casual or formal, modern with a twist of classic elegance.

Available now at Saks for a hefty $1,850, this bag is well worth the price. With the new Fendi B bags and the Dior Gauchos soon to be coming at us left right and centre, you don’t want to forget this little gem so start saving for yours now because when those hideous buckle bags become a has-been, you’re gunna be thankful you have your Ramona.

Courtney Love Sighting

January 20, 2006 at 7:48 pm by HeidiGoLightly

Courtney LoveCourtney Love continues her ongoing campaign to convince the public that she is “clean and sober”. Her fashion tips include:

1. Make sure your hair looks as unclean and unkempt as possible. Do not wash it for at least two weeks before making a public appearance. On the day of the appearance, roll out of bed, take a dollop of Crisco, rub it into your hair and Voila! It also helps if you can secure a convertible to take you to the event. Clean and sober people always look like they’ve been severely windblown.

2. When considering skin care and makeup, the key words to remember are “splotchy” and “shiny”.

3. Make sure your breast support is asymmetrical, giving you a lopsided appearance. Ms. Love prefers to secure her right breast firmly in place and leave the left one hanging lifelessly.

4. Hang out at ice skating competitions, pick out a dress you like and simply attack the skater as she comes off the ice. Once rendered unconscious, the skating costume is easily removed and ready to wear.

5. And finally, always carry a bulky, ugly gray sweatshirt with you to wear as a disguise if you need to make a quick get away.

Milla Who?

January 20, 2006 at 7:42 pm by HeidiGoLightly

Milla Jovovich

Here is Milla Jovovich modeling her new Dorothy Hamill haircut and a piece from her latest fashion collection, which was inspired by her Aunt Marge’s impressive collection of excessively ruffled blouses, circa 1981. Ms. Jovovich would like the public to know that, in addition to being an obvious visionary in the field of fashion design, she is also available to perform at weddings, birthday parties and bar mitzvahs.

The Best Hair at the Golden Globes

January 19, 2006 at 8:03 pm by Sarah Jean Snarker

The Best Hair at the 2006 Golden Globe Awards:

Felicity Huffman

Felicity Huffman.

I apologize for not being able to find a picture of the back of her ‘do. It consisted of perfectly twisted, put-into-place curls that looked angelic on her, quite matching the goddess gown, with perfectly placed sparkling strips.

Disqualified for Bad Hair

January 19, 2006 at 7:57 pm by Sarah Jean Snarker

Natalie Portman Golden Globes 2006

I’m sorry, but I completely disagree with anyone who thought Natalie Portman looked good at the Golden Globes, especially those who liked her hair. The hair ruined the lovely vintage Chanel dress, and it nearly ruins her pure beauty. I can’t wait for it to grow back, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to stomach watching the movie she went bald for.

Ellen Pompeo Golden Globes 2006

Ellen Pompeo had perfectly nice, straight hair. Then “Brad” called, and she decided to go curly. This faux crimp-curl do distracted me from anything else about her the evening of the awards, I didn’t even notice her awful frock.

Gee, thanks, Wash N’ Curl™.

The Ubiquitous Desperate Housewives Post

January 19, 2006 at 6:58 pm by Sarah Jean Snarker

Desperate Housewives

Here is your fix of the Desperate Housewives and their fashion. At this year’s Golden Globes, they were not all the best dressed, nor all the worst. So here they are, just as they are.
