I love it. Backless gowns are predicted to be a trend for Oscars this year. I like to think we’re all honoring the very sexy Justin. I’ve got one sexy back for him right over here.
Oh - yeah - anyway! This does look very elegant, sexy and beautiful on the ladies. I can’t wait to see all the looks!

The stars are out and partying these last nights before the big O. night. You can read all about it on People.com here and here. Yawwwn.
Why do I care if I’m not there, too?

Seriously, the Academy Awards appear to me to be arbitrarily picked as THE night in entertainment - royally dissing TV, music, and everything else. The public goes ga ga for it, too, somehow. It’s all fine, because it’s entertainment itself - but when I read articles going on about the tiny details over dinner, dancing, flirting and club-hopping. All eaten up apparently because these people mean something(?).
Awards are good because they mean something about the art, even though civilian art, deeds, intelligence and just plain hard-work should be awarded equally (although the nominee pool would be arguably too large). Anyway, the acclaim really should end with the awards. And the fashion. Let’s not reward an "entertaining" night life, as well.
Just ask Britney. She’s practically one of us regular gals now, anyway.

Rumor has it that Meryl Streep will not even attend the Oscars due to a scheduled surgery (knee or something, don’t worry). Not only do I think she should go, but I would implore her to fabu up her attire for this year’s Academy Awards.
Generally she might wear something like the suit in the first picture below, Giorgio Armani. Mature (read: old), relaxed, and boring.
To celebrate her fabulous and fun role and her great performance (although she, who basically had a supporting role, imo, doesn’t give as fierce competition as her character’s personality) she should vamp it up a bit. Go a little younger, with fashionista-flair details, such as shoulder adornments done right, a sharp color, metallic or bling and a great stylish skirt - elements found in the last two pictures, Valentino and another Armani, respectively.

Meryl, I hope you stay healthy and pain-free and enjoy Oscar season. You would (or will) lighten up the room Sunday night, because your portrayal and your film were so sharp and fun. It’s one of my favs of last year. You deserve some more fun that night, and to know you still look good - you played the editor of Vogue er Runway(!) for god’s sake!

Oscar winning actress Rachel Weisz, 35, gave birth to a baby boy Wednesday night in NYC. It is her first child with her fiancé, director Darren Aronofsky, 37. Congratulations!
Can’t wait to hear what the celebrity couple named their new bundle of joy…

Wow! David Beckham sure knows how to celebrate his wife’s birthday!
In addition to a lavish £200 per person dinner party catered by Nobu restaurant, David also bought Victoria the vintage Bulgari necklace worn by Keira Knightley to last month’s Oscar ceremony. The necklace reportedly cost £8million. Not too shabby.

I finally found a full length picture of Meryl Streep from this year’s Oscars and I just wanted to say that I thought she looked great.
Although she is not a young ingénue by any means, she usually favors fussy, matronly frocks that make her look years older.
However, I think this plum gown with the plunging neckline and full, beaded skirt is a winner. I think the color works wonderfully with her complexion and the cut of the gown is flattering. She also kept her jewelry simple, which accentuated the shape of the gown.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Ms. Streep’s acting ability and flair for accents, but never before have I been a fan of her fashion choices.

Warning: following is an old, old David Letterman reference that I - and few others - find hilarious.

Seriously, who is that girl in green? I love her dress.

She’s looking really sickening.
My nose gets bigger as I lose weight, too, but look at her forearms! Blegh. And her fingers! Just bones. They don’t look human.

Felicity Huffman:

I loved that Felicity showed skin, until I saw the sheer side panels. No! Wrong! Tacky and skanky! Ugh.
Maggie Gyllenhaal:

I don’t think this dress FITS Maggie, at all. Her chest is very slouchy and her breasts look very large, without there being any actual cleavage. Also, that belt is off from the waist and it looks odd.

I see this dress as not so safe for Ms. Swank, because it’s different from her usual backless dresses. Instead of covering up her front, she bared more of her chest. The dress is also just elegantly beautiful. (Plus, I really love the trailing tail.)
