As Kim Cattrall had mused on the commercial recently yanked from New Zealand airwaves, “The new Nissan Tiida makes you feel really, really, really good inside.” What doesn’t make me feel good inside is the striking similarity between Cattrall’s dress and Mariah Carey’s recent dresses of choice, using bold solids, heavy stretch fabrics, and wide scoop necklines with simple straps. Cattrall can pull it off, but I’m still fighting ESPY flashbacks. On the plus side, love the shoes, Kim.

Ok, I don’t know what the weather is like where all of you live, but here in my neck of the woods, it’s hot. Not just hot, but record-breaking temperature hot. The kind of hot where you walk outside and can barely take a breath because you feel so oppressed.

So, I thought I would take a tip from Mariah Carey and hire someone to follow me around with an umbrella and provide some portable shade to keep me looking fresh as a daisy in the overwhelming heat.

Unfortunately, the only person I could find actually out in this weather was the semi- crazy guy who hangs out by the train station in my neighborhood. So, after explaining what I wanted to hire him to do, he seemed to understand and I confidently handed over my oversized beach umbrella.

An hour later, after I caught him gnawing on the umbrella handle a few times and he had done his best Gene Kelly “Dancing in the Rain” routine about ten times, I realized my plan had taken a wrong turn.

So, needless to say, I paid him the pre-negotiated price of two Hershey bars, a pack of Marlboros and a Slim Jim and went on my way with the sun beating down on me and no shade in sight. It’s so hard to find good help these days…

This is Mariah Carey at the ESPY Awards (ESPN’s sports awards) in a dress of her own design.

I’m not surprised this lack of design would be what she’d make. A lack of dress is just what she likes. Plus it’s hot pink.

We can also see her amateur design ability in the way it looks on her. It’s a really poor dress that is this unflattering to Mariah’s new body.

Get a barrette!

I can’t tell if Mariah Carey lost all the weight she gained from this pose of her hand in front of her stomach and her black clothes covering her arms, but she sure has lost some and really buffed up.

She was especially thick on the thighs and now look at them; she has serious definition. I thought I had some definition. Poor me, and damn those celebrity fitness teams/cash/deals with the devil himself.

Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera are both slinging words at the other. Basically the two have accused each other of getting drunk and acting irresponsibly at parties. Read about it on People.com. The last of the cat fight ended with these words from Carey,

“It is sad yet predictable that she would use my name at this time to reinvent* past incidents for her promotional gain. It is in my heart to forgive and I will keep her in my prayers.”

Ouch! In my circle, “I will pray for you” is the worst insult!

Oh, yeah, but then Christina did attempt to apologize, “My intentions were not to upset Mariah with any statements that were published or taken out of context. I have all the respect in the world for her.”

Mariah Carey will be working with Elizabeth Arden Inc. to create her own perfume. Carey’s first fragrance is expected in the spring of 2007.
According to reports, Mariah will be involved in all aspects of development, packaging and marketing.

I have no idea what this will smell like, but I think Emancipation or Memories of Mimi are good suggestions for names.

I also hope the packaging has lots of Glitter. Ha! Forgive me, I couldn’t resist.
