Paris Hilton and Stavros Niarchos, a Greek shipping heir (why must his status always be mentioned?) broke up recently, it was confirmed Tuesday (oh, where have I been? Eh!), by Paris’s publicist:

“I confirm that she’s split with him. They are no longer a couple. I don’t know the exact day they split.”

Neither do I. Nor do I care. I’m actually glad we won’t hear about them anymore, because:

“Stavros Niarchos, Greek shipping heir” is a handful to type. And there are so many ways to mis-spell.
That jerk left Mary-Kate Olson for the dirtier Hilton.
This was so fake; they’re fake people. And genuine people with hearts remain single. (And they remain poor.)
And … well, screw it; I don’t care.

So, I’d ask for the press to stop writing about them, but they continue.

Paris & Stavros: Their Final Days
Monday, April 17
Hilton hosts a 21st-birthday bash for Niarchos and 100 friends at her Beverly Hills home. (She held additional parties for her beau in Las Vegas on April 21 and April 22.)
Thursday, April 27
Paris flies to Austria. That night, Niarchos is spotted with Lohan outside a private party in Beverly Hills.
Sunday, April 30
While Hilton parties at Austrian nightclub Pascia, Niarchos visits Lohan at the Chateau Marmont, where she’s staying during her Just My Luck press tour.
Monday, May 1
Paris flies back to L.A. and hangs out with Leinart. The two then hit L.A.’s Shag, where Niarchos spots them.
Tuesday, May 2
At 3:30 a.m., Niarchos and Hilton get into a screaming match at her gate. She doesn’t want to let him in. He won’t leave – and winds up sprawled on the ground. (He finally hops in a cab at 9 a.m.) Hilton’s rep confirms the split later that day.
